David 444 Posted September 17, 2018 This weekend I'm planning to launch an update with a feature I have worked quite some time on. It will be an essential feature in promoting the PvP skill aspect of the game and bring competivity to a next level.RuneWild PvP Leagues Before I explain my thought process prior to creating this update, I'll explain what this feature consists of. The PvP Leagues is a competitive feature with a leaderboard which is divided into different divisions and tiers.Four Leagues There are four seperate leagues with each it's own leaderboard and player statistics. The popular fighting types which I have created leagues for are, Pure NH, Hybrid, Maxed, Pure.You can view the ranking and statistics of the different type of leagues through the dropdown menu.Divisions and Tiers There are six divisions and three tiers in a league, you start at Bronze III and promote to Bronze II and so forth. The six divisions are, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Challenger. I will go more in depth about Challenge below. The Placement divisionPlay 10 Matches to determine your Division and TierThe Bronze Division The Silver Division The Platinum Division The Diamond Division The Challenger Division Advancing in a League You start off in Bronze III and advance to the next tier by reaching 100 League Points (LP), you earn League Points and ELO by killing an opponent. You can advance to a new division by reaching 100 LP when you are in Tier I. Upon reaching higher divisions you need to play promotion games to advance which is explained below.You will only earn LP and ELO against players near your division, it's divided into Bronze until Silver and Gold until ChallengerPromotion Stage You can not always advance instantly from tier to tier or divisions to division by just reaching 100 LP. In the better tiers, Gold and Platinum, you have to play promotion games in order to advance. For tiers you have to play 3 promotions games where you will advance upon winning 2, at divisions you have to play 5 promotion games where you will advance upon winning 3 of them.You need to play your promos in an instanced area when the queue hits 4 players.Challenger Division This is the division for the top tier players, the top 20 ELO Players who are above the Gold division are recounted every 24 hours at 7AM GMT. There is no LP or tiers in the Challenger division, if you degrade the day after due to recount your division and tier will be recalculated based on your ELO.Teleporting or running from fights Upon leaving a fight you will be penalized half the ELO you would normally lose from a death, a fight counts after 10 seconds of fighting against eachother.This icon will appear for fights where you or your opponent has left the fight earlier than you did.What's the thought behind PvP Leagues?The PvP League system came to my mind after playing various skill based games where competivity is insanely high. The same case is at Runescape, but if you think about it, the skill level can't really be measured and recognition to individual skilled players is hardly seen. In order to combat this issue a leaderboard system had to be introduced with some sort of perimeter, which in this case was ELO.What are the benefits of the PvP Leagues? With the PvP League 'Seasonals' resetting every month, the best players will receive some sort of reward, this would motivate players to increase their skill and try to reach a higher ELO to become the best in the league. After the Beta which will probably last until the first of the month I will be starting the official PvP Leagues Season I, every month the #1 ranked player of each league will receive an OSRS gp reward and the ranks until 5 will receive an ingame reward.
